Four Wines to Try in 2018
Check out Armando’s thoughts on wine in the January edition of the Rhode Island Echo.
LUNGAROTTI “TOREE DI GIANO”
Umbria
Trebbiano Blend, Chardonnay Style
A fresh white wine, straw-coloured with greenish reflections. Fruity with long-lasting, intense bouquet that recalls citrus fruit white blossoms and fresh fruit salad; dry and with good structure, it has a fragrant evolution with delicate acidity and a long finish.
FESSINA “LAENEO”
Sicily
Nerello Cappuccio, Pino Noir Style
Deep garnet-red in color, aromas of orchard fruits and ripe red berries complement undertones of plums, spices, and earth. On the palate, soft tannins and intense acidity push a long, pleasant finish.
MARCHESI BISCARDO “CORVINA”
Verona
Corvina
Very deep garnet-red with bright orange highlights. Highly refined, it starts from the spicy, earthy aromas to the ripe, deep cherry, cassis and prune flavours. A combination of power and complexity in a formidable full-bodied style. It recalls leather and chocolate that echoes through the finish, accented by orange peel.
MORELLINO DI SCANSANO
Tuscany
Vermentino
Full straw yellow, the nose mineral sensations are combined with fruity and floral, plum, wisteria and broom. Tasting is balanced, it stands out for a good structure supported by minerality and great fruity and freshness. Long finish from almond returns.
